US singer Beyonce Knowles has laughed off a hoax recording on the internet which was tampered with to make her singing sound off-key.
Radio host Howard Stern played the clip on his show saying he did not know who had leaked it, but thought the singer would want to "strangle" them.
The rendition of her singing If I Were a Boy has been identified as a joke.
Knowles told the US TV show Today that although she had not heard it, she had been told it was "very over the top".
'Manipulated'
She added: "I haven't heard it, but I do know that it was a complete joke.
"It's so amazing that someone in their home can do a little prank and it can end up on these major radio shows."
On his Sirius radio show, Stern said the recording had been taken from a "board feed", which is the raw voice of the star singing along to a backing track.
Art student Matthew Zeghibe from Connecticut created the clip and said he was "just trying to make a point". Speaking to Rolling Stone he said: "I wanted to show people how easy it is to manipulate someone's voice.
"If I can do it with a clip I pulled off of TV, imagine what they are doing on records and during live performances.
"The entire industry has been so manipulated, because there's such an emphasis on perfection, so when something like this happens, it causes such a stir."
His version was taken from Knowles' performance on the Today show in November last year.
"It was just for a good laugh. It was a goof, just for fun. I do a lot of parodies on my YouTube channel, and it just so happens this one got a little out of hand," he said.
The pop star's lawyer files a motion seeking the return of three rings and a pair of earrings that were seized the night Chris Brown was arrested, allegedly for assaulting her. By Corina Knoll April 25, 2009 A lawyer for R&B star Rihanna filed a motion in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday requesting a return of $1.4 million in jewelry the singer was wearing the day she was allegedly assaulted by Chris Brown.
Attorney Donald Etra said he has made several requests for three designer rings and a pair of earrings that were lent to Rihanna to wear to the Grammy Awards and were seized as evidence more than two months ago.
"The investigating officer gave me his opinion that photographs would be sufficient, and the D.A. said to write her a letter and they'd consider returning it," Etra said. "I have heard nothing since the last letter to the D.A."
Etra said that although the four designers who lent the jewelry were initially sympathetic to the situation, the delay has cost them money and they have begun to make daily inquiries about their property.
Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office, said the delay may have something to do with the fact that there hasn't been a preliminary hearing in the case.
Etra said Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, signed an agreement with the jewelry companies agreeing to return each piece the day after the Grammys.
Brown was arrested Feb. 8 and charged with felony assault and making criminal threats against Rihanna.

Production of “New Moon,” the follow-up to “Twilight,” will not be halted as some outlets reported April 20.
A spokesperson from Summit Entertainment, which is releasing the film, says “Production is underway, in Vancouver, totally as planned. There is no delay. Whatever you’re hearing about a lawsuit interfering with the film, its release, all I can say is it’s totally false.” The film is slated for a Nov. 20 release.
Several Internet outlets reported April 20 that filming was halted because of a lawsuit allegedly filed in Utah by a former friend of Stephenie Meyers, the “Twilight” author. Meyers’ representation says no such lawsuit was even filed.
If Sam Ronson's Facebook page is any indicator, the celebrity deejay might still be carrying the torch for former girlfriend Lindsay Lohan.
Usmagazine.com reports that shortly after her red-headed ex appeared yesterday on the Ellen DeGeneres Show stating that the two still talk and hinting towards a continued friendship, Ronson's Facebook status updated to "It's Complicated."
Ronson removed her "In a Relationship" status on the social networking site after a blowout fight with then-girlfriend Lohan earlier this month.
But if Ronson is interested in rekindling their relationship, she might have to take a backseat to Lohan's planned attempts to take back her career.
"When people are together so much, it gets really difficult, and you forget who you are because you're more concerned about being with the other person," she dished to the talk show host.
"I'm not looking to be with anyone right now," Lohan continued.
"I don't need to deal with that. It gets too distracting from everything that I need to focus on. Leaving town, you miss someone too much and you don't want to go sometimes, but I really care about Samantha and we'll see what happens. Maybe when we're fully in the right place... I love her."

Here’s your exclusive first look at Kelly Monaco all decked out for her new gig heading a topless revue in Las Vegas. (Sorry to disappoint, but she won’t be baring her boobs.) The General Hospital star and Dancing With the Stars champ will appear alongside ex-Spice Girl and fellow DWTS alum Mel B in “Peepshow” at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. The production, directed and choreographed by Broadway hotshot Jerry Mitchell (“Hairspray,” “Legally Blonde”), opens April 18.
“I’m on pins and needles wondering, ‘What have I gotten myself into?’” says Monaco, who has a three-month deal with an option to extend. (GH fans won’t miss her because she’ll fly back to L.A. to tape the soap two days per week). “I’ve said no to so many things since Dancing With the Stars, including Broadway musicals, because I can’t sing — I can barely do karaoke in the privacy of my own home,” she says. “But this is very exciting — a new kind of concept for a Vegas show.”
